Can I still go to College?!

Hello! My name is Willie and I’m a pretty average grades person.
I’m currently in my second semester of 10th grade. 9th grade I go:

Algebra 1 with technology part 1- C
Algebra 1 with technology part 2- D
Elective- B
Earth Science- B
Gym- A
English 1 Honors- C
World History Honors- C
AP Human Geography- D

And last semester of 10th grade I go

Geometry- D
Honors Biology- D
Theatre 2- A
French 1- C

Extra Curricular:
-Drama Club for 2 years
-International Thesbian Society
(hopefully some volunteer opps this summer)

My current weighted GPA is a 2.666 and my class rank is 257/471

I’m making better grades than the other semesters right now, but i’m a bit saddened in myself, because these grades do not reflect my character and who I am. I live in North Carolina right around the top schools in the nation: Duke, NC State, UNC, App. State, Chapel Hill, etc.

I would like to venture off to NYU or Marymount or Pace University for theater if possible, but I obviously can’t if I don’t have decent grades. Do you think my chances of getting into any of these colleges is slim? Will I be doomed in community college? I really would like to pursue a major in Theater and a minor in Communications, but right now I’m really worried. Do you think that if I make All A’s and B’s this last semester of 10th grade and the same in 11th, that I’ll have a chance at getting into any of the colleges I listed?
thanks!

NYU extremely doubtful. Marymount is possible. 45% of entering students have below a 3.0. http://www.marymount.edu/irap/documents/CommonDataSet2009-2010_003.pdf</a> Better grades WILL give you better chances. And CC is not doom. Many students do well starting there and transfer to more prestigious schools, saving money in the long run.

no
go to summer school and get that geometry/bio to a C
then you can go to a state school

sorry no chance are you a urm

the guy/girl’s in 10th grade, you can’t say “no chance” yet. i think some of you just enjoy being mean.

you have 2 whole years to bring your GPA up and add lots of community service or whatever other activities you want to do.
