Can I take a course as a "basic science" complementary course and then switch it?

Can I take a course as a “basic science” complementary course and then switch it to a minor course later that way I can free up the “basic science” complementary spot for another course? If that didn’t make sense, basically what I am saying is that I want to take this Physics course as part of my Physics minor which I have not yet gotten into but I need to take the course now and can since the course is also a “basic science” course but in the minor it says I have to take “either this or that” for the minor and I want to take both courses hence the question.

(I’m in Software Engineering from the Engineering faculty at McGill University).

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Huh?

If you want to take both courses anyway, wouldn’t they fulfill the requirements you describe, whether or not you end up doing the minor?
