<p>You can register for 40, and ask for a text alert for 140. If someone drops 140 and a seat opens, you can try and pick up the class. This obviously takes some luck, but during the first week of classes many students rearrange their schedules. </p>
<p>As we have all said, these are questions to ask advisors — that’s what they are for, after all. There are so many nuances and exceptions and prereq issues that you really want to have the information from an authoritative source. My children have had very different advising experiences so you need to educate yourself about the terms and requirements so you can use advising best.Keep in mind that each advisor has hundreds of students, so it’s always the students’ job to contact them.</p>
