Now I’m in 12th grade. I’m going to repeat 12th grade again next year. Can I take SAT on spring during my senior year? The SAT scores still count right?
In your situation, yes, they would still “count.” But when you say “repeat,” do you mean you will be doing a post-grad year at another HS, or doing remedial work at your current HS?
So regular HS is 4 years. But I just stay at 12th grade for another year. Right now I’m 12th grade. After the 2019 summer I will be still 12th grade again. I will take the SAT on 2019 spring. I’m just worry that the scores count or not. So you said YES right?
I don’t understand how you can stay in HS for a second 12th grade year. Has this plan been approved by your HS? Most people who do an extra year of HS go to a different school (typically a private HS) for a post-grad year as noted above.
Oh maybe u don’t know. In the Bay Area, this is a plan for English learner.
You can take the SAT any time. What will matter is that you have your scores when you apply to college. So, if you are planning to attend college in the autumn of 2019, you will need your scores by late autumn 2018- spring of 2019 will be too late for the college application deadlines (except for some continuous admission colleges).
Not everyone finishes high school in four years. To the OP, the answer is yes. Your SATs will count. Pay attention to the college app deadlines for when you are ready to begin applying so that colleges are able to receive your scores in time. And talk with your counselor and the ELL teacher/representative on your campus. Good luck!
Yes, they count. Good luck.
Thx !
Firsr I’d recommend that you talk to your guidance counselor to see if your plan to remain in HS for a second year of 12th grade is a viable option.
As long as you take the SAT test in time to be able provide the scores when needed with your application for admission to freshman year of college, you can take it anytime, even years after you have graduated from high school if you wait that long to go to college.
Make sure your school is aware you are staying the extra year. It may be typical for ELL students, but that doesn’t mean it is done for all. This is done locally for certain Special Ed students (who often stay until they turn 21), but in most cases their schedules are structured such that they don’t complete their graduation requirements until their final year. Don’t end up surprised because you think you’re, and they think you are - their decision is what matters.
It wouldn’t be a big deal in terms of taking the SAT, because any test you take before you apply is fine. But you could find yourself attending community college or taking a gap year unexpectedly, because you are no longer enrolled in your HS.
