Can I turn it around?

I am a college freshmen, finishing up my Spring semester. I am going to a CC, and currently taking two classes (had to drop 2 early on due to emergency family commitments I had to full fill) I currently have a 3.2 GPA. In my history class I currently have a 78% and in my English I have around, I believe, a 89%. I am trying really hard to bump those grades up. Best case scenario, I do bump them up and my GPA goes up to 3.28. Worst case scenario, I don’t and my GPA goes down to 3.0. Regardless of either outcome. I feel that both resulting GPA’s are mediocre. I am interested in Film and English and want to go to a college like USC or UCLA but I feel that if I don’t have at least a 3.7, I’m not going to go anywhere I want to go.

What I’m looking for is advice on how to approach this situation. Has anyone gone through this? If so what advice can you provide me regarding on what you did to better your GPA and get into the university you wanted too. This dilemma is really stressful for me so any advice anyone can give me would sincerely be greatly appreciated.

UCLA film, hard to get in to, is pretty lenient re: GPA. I think it’s avg is about 3.5. UCLA American Lit is about 3.4. You can turn it around!
