can i use the word sex in an essay?

Yes. It has more than 1 meaning, and even in its good meaning, there isnt negatively associated. Post the sentence containing it.

" I used to think that rap was all about violence, murder, theft, and sex. "

It is about violence, murder, theft, and sex. But that’s not necessarily bad.

no of course not
admissions officers never have sex, are you kidding? the mere thought of two bodies in perpendicular motion will make them throw up all over your paper

now, maybe throw a little bling bling, death and destruction - you’ll be flying

I don’t think it’s terrible to use sex. You almost don’t need to though; the first 3 points (violence, murder, theft) are strong enough to make you avoid taking the risk of using sex.

i do not see the risk of using the word sex. Perhaps because there is none. Sex is natural. Its seriously not like ur describing sex, ur just using the word, so chill out, dont overthiink, and move on and focus ur concerns on much more crucial areas, please. good luck with ur apps.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word sex. Hell, you can write about sex in a college essay if you do it well.

Why do you keep talking about sex?

actually you cant write about sex in an application. I have a college book, a brown officer says talking about sex is an absolute no

but mentioning it in that context is fine…

haha my main essay to stanford, harvard, yale, princeton is about sex!

its not anything explicit tho… i’ve given it to like 5 different adults, ranging from GC to moms, and the concensus is that its fine.

First of all, a college book saying you shouldn’t do something does not mean you can’t do it. Say an applicant’s brother died on AIDS, and in response she started an organization promoting safe sex that hands out free condoms at bars and school dances and gives presentations about AIDS and safe sex to local schools. I would certainly want to read an essay from her about the work that she’s done. I mean, I’m not saying you should write an essay about what you and your boyfriend do once your parents leave or anything.

Was that to me, Shravas?

sorry, i meant talking about sex, in a casual manner- like "a first experience " or somthing along those lines is unacceptable

No, that was for namkim.

Most rap IS about violence, theft, murder, and sex - I hope you STILL think that…

oh and isn’t murder a type of violence?

Is it ok to talk about rim jobs in an app?

Should i explain the definition, or is it a given??? i mean the adcoms do work at a University, but i couldn’t find the phrase at wikipedia.com …

HELP!!!

OMG My ears! My Eyes!!!
