<p>Wondering if my topic, being in an authoritative position and dealing with the moral dilemma of seeing a particularly bad action and the offender assuming I would “let it slide”, would be relevant in response to the apply texas prompt :</p>
<p>Describe a circumstance, obstacle, or conflict in your life, and the skills and resources you used to resolve it. Did it change you? If so, how?</p>
<p>Its possible, but it sounds like a hard topic to do well. If you do try it, make sure you show humility.</p>
<p>Ultimately, you have to use the essay to market yourself to colleges. Give them a snapshot of your personality, your dreams, values, interests, whatever. So if you feel that a large part of your character is integrity, then by all means, go ahead. But you’ll be worse off if that is the only thing about yourself you can show through the essay.</p>
<p>I was planning to stay humble in my position of authority @CHD2013 , I’ll keep that in particular in mind when writing it.</p>
<p>@OnMyWay2013 , how would I go about displaying other values? Honesty and Integrity I’d suppose go hand in hand, what other traits are good for me to put on?</p>
<p>It doesn’t just have to be traits or values. For example, if I was in a situation like that and did the same thing you did, it would be, in part, because my father always told me that as a Black woman I would have to work harder to attain success, and that people would always be scrutinizing me, trying to find reasons to hold me back, so there was no room for dishonesty. And because I’m a Christian, so honesty is a virtue. And because I want to go into healthcare, and I don’t want to be a doctor who avoids doing difficult but necessary things just because it’s more convenient. </p>
<p>See how much you’ve learned about me? You don’t say, “Honesty and integrity are very important to me.” You describe yourself, the activities you do in school, elements of your culture, how your family interacts, and <em>show</em> that there are lots of factors in your background that make you a genuinely honest person.</p>
