Do you think I can use the word ‘perspiration’ as a synonym of hard work in my Commonapp essay?
I know the saying by Thomas Edison, that ‘Genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration’. So is it OK to say ‘…where success was a function of perspiration and ingenuity.’?

double meaning words should be avoided.

actually i know somebody who’s entire essay using words with double meanings

so there were 2 completely different interpretations of her essay

it was pretty beastly

she got into penn

that’s such a good idea…

Why don’t you just use that word and try to avoid using other double meaning words throughout the rest of your essay.
