Can I win any Scholarships?

Disregarding the scholarships offered by my school and state, the ones I refer to are national scholarships. My statistics aren’t that good at all. 26 ACT and 3.2 UW. I do take several AP classes and have good extracurricular activites. I’m interested in applying for a scholarship that is being offered by the National Hispanic Fund for high school seniors. The problem is it’s national and i’m sure there are students that put me to shame with their stats. I’ve already submitted the academic profile. What’s left is a teacher rec and 3 essays. Could my essays pull me out and help me win? Should I even apply for this scholarship?

It never hurts to try and you may be able to “recycle” those essays later for college applications. It is a long shot, though. But any national competition is a long shot.
