Hey I’m going to Colorado school of mines in the fall which is a STEM school, so there are obviously more males then females, but when I applied to the school in October I never put that I was transgender (female to male) because I wasn’t sure if I 100% wanted to transition or not. The problem is because the school wants more females and I was on the border of getting in or not, I think that because I’m female I got in, but now if I were to transition as male and technically be male would they revoke my acceptance. Thank you so much for anyone who helps I appreciate it!
Colleges generally don’t rescind except for failure to graduate high school, violent misbehavior, or too many grades below C on your final transcript.
Check to see if there is a campus LGBT organization to help you find friendly housing as you transition.
They will not revoke your acceptance for this. You got in because of your accomplishments. Gender identity is covered under the non-discrimination policies at many schools, and I just checked, it is at Colorado school of mines.
They won’t revoke you, don’t worry – but inform then so that housing knows to give you a male roommate. Have fun in college!
Colleges don’t care. I know that there are at least 3 female->male transitioning kids at WashU in the current freshman class. My son has a friend from middle school who is a current UPenn freshman who is transitioning to male. Just as long as there is no academic fraud/failure or conviction of a felony, as the previous poster mention.
Your housing application will allow you to specify gender inclusive housing, if you so desire. Best of luck!
It is a public school in a state that doesn’t allow gender discrimination. Fix your housing status.

They want more female students in the interests of diversity – and as a transgender student, you definitely increase their diversity.
Congrats on your acceptance, and I second the recommendations to check out what options are available to you with regard to housing – for example, would you be more comfortable if you didn’t share a communal bathroom with others?
@spence7575 thank you for sharing with us.
I hope you find time in the next year to come back to CC and let us know about your experiences at Colorado School of Mines. My high school junior son is ftm trans also, and I’m anxious about his college application and first year experience. Reading about your journey might help ease my anxiety and prepare me for hurdles he might face.
