Can my mom and uncle pay for my tuition online separately?

There are family matters I do not want to get into. Basically, my mom and uncle will both be paying for my tuition every quarter until I graduate. She will pay about 2/3 and he will pay the other 1/3. However, he will not make it simple and just give us a check or something so we can pay it online altogether. Instead he wants to pay Northwestern directly AND have access to my grades. (Since he’s paying for it I guess)

How would this work?

Thanks.

I have “guest” access to Caesar in order to pay my son’s bills. I receive email notifications whenever there is a bill to pay, log on with my own logon info (not my son’s logon info), and pay the bill online. I would think that you could give two people this kind of access. My son had to authorize me as a guest.

This guest access does not enable me to see grades or whatever else may be on Caesar - it just allows me to pay the bills.

Guest access makes some sense…that way neither the parent nor the student has to deposit monies into a bank account, triggering any kind of taxable event. At least, I think so. For purposes of finaid forms, help from relatives is still "other income’ I suppose, although it sounds like finaid is not a consideration here.

When DS was at NU, DS set up Caesar so that both his father and I could access the on line bill pay system. The student has to set it up and allow permission for users. Each user had their own sign in and password that they set up and could view the tuition bills. Users cannot see other stuff on Caesar like grades and such.

Both his father and I made our own individual tuition payments and there was never any problem. You can do bank transfers or just send a check to the school. Just one word of caution - NU does not update the billing every day. It seemed like it was updated about once a month. So any transaction made may not be visible to every one else for awhile.
