There was a language barrier when you came here in 2016? You write better than 99% of American teenagers.
my English skills have been improved a lot since I came here. Only thing I cannot do is to read and write rhetoric passages. I know it takes time. Thank you though
SUZY very very thank you… I was unaware of it. I just changed my Vanderbilt decision to early decision II
Why are you in jail?
?
Look at your profile picture. It’s behind jail bars.
oh what is this about? I’m new here…Maybe because i tried to share my email address publicly… i was unaware
Apply to SDSU Honors, UCSC (there’s an honors program there). Chico State is the most residential CSU campus, CPP is another Cal Poly (located in Pomona, near LA).
Start now looking into Harvey Mudd and Pomona, two excellent colleges which meet 100% need, meaning they’d likely cost you less than UCs. Also run the NPC on Williams, Amherst, Case Western Reserve, Grinnell. If you’re a girl, Smith, Barnard, Bryn Mawr.
Your application fees should be waived on CommonApp and for UC’s/CSUs, right?
yes…it is waived
Do you want to stay in California? If not, there are some wonderful liberal arts colleges that offer excellent financial aid. Grinnell, a small college in Iowa, has very generous merit and financial aid and offers an incredible education. St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, also offeres lots of aid.
UPDATE: 800 on SAT II; just took it today and went very well
Have you run the NPC (net price calculator) for the colleges cited on this thread?
For every college I have tried, family’s and student’s contribution is 0 for me
OK, so add a few (Grinnell is an excellent suggestion, for instance).
Grinnell has a high endowment on a per capita basis AND has a strong mentoring system.
Their mentoring system is described at https://www.grinnell.edu/about/difference
Their BA in Computer Science program is described at http://www.cs.grinnell.edu/drupal6/node/5#recommendations :bz
Another exceptional school with an outstanding mentoring program is Olin College of Engineering in Wellesley Massachusetts. Look it over @ http://www.olin.edu/academics/curriculum/. Very small, very well endowed on a per person basis. Their admissions process would give your situation a careful review. :bz
UC Berkeley asked me for Letters of Recommendation, is there any reason?
Provide them.
Probably because they’re considering your application and need to know more about you.
However keep in mind UCB is totally off limits for you if they don’t choose you to be one of their very very very rare scholarship winners, meaning odds are 99.5% you can’t go even if they admit you.
OK LOOK IM A CALIFORNIAN RESIDENT. SO, the total on-campus price is 10000+…= 39000 per year of which need-based university grant is 29000 year. Do i have to pay the grant to them?? ANd 10000 is the net price for me. So, cant I use FAFSA AND cal GRant to cover rest of it. I do not know how do the things work??
OOOPS I’m sorry!!! I thought you were OOS. My bad, I knew that and had a momentary lapse.
No, grants are paid for you to them.
$10,000 net price is good, I think it’s the base price, with Cal Grants + Stafford federal loans + Pell Grants you should be ok. They may want a recommendation because they’re considering you for Regents then? WOuldn’t that be cool? Don’t keep your hopes up obviously but think quickly, who would write you a good letter, with lots of anecdotes and details?
