Can NYU students take classes at Columbia?

Can NYU students take classes at Columbia? Can they actually try to take classes and get a degree?

Not unless they transfer to Columbia. =P

As with any other college, you can apply to take classes there over the summer session, or possibly during the school year if you want to do over 18 credits without paying for it at NYU. The degree you get is obviously going to be from your own college though.

Most people who take summer classes do so at local colleges near home, often to save money. Columbia would be just as expensive as NYU but it’ll give you the chance to experience another college.

You can take classes there ONLY if NYU does not offer what you need. I know that some people take language classes there because they offer a few languages we don’t. But obviously, the degree is going to come out of your own program.

^you can take Tibetan at Columbia lol.

Oh so you can take more than 18 credits and not pay for it? Really? What if you take 18 credits at NYU and some classes at Columbia during the school year?

i think that poster was saying that you won’t pay for it “at NYU”. you’d be paying Columbia. i know that at NYU, it’s per credit over 18, but i don’t know how it is as Columbia.

ok, so theyre fully transferable?

ya because Columbia is a better school

^ LOL at bagels, thanks for my lulz for the night

@clout

NYU and Columbia have an agreement to allow students from either school to take classes at the other, ONLY if it’s not offered at the home school. i’ve heard it done with the language classes the most. but there’s probably more i don’t know about.

you can actually do this for any school, but you have to jump through hoops and fill out paperwork for it. i knew someone who wanted to take a class at FIT and it was something that wasn’t offered anywhere at NYU.

ask your adviser about it. ultimately, NYU has the final say.

if you want to take a class somewhere else, get multiple copies of the proof that the class will be accepted for credit IN WRITING. i read about someone who took a class at another Uni and NYU tried to screw her over for graduation when they audited her.
