<p>Argh. Kid is staying at a hotel near Baltimore-Washington International Airport tonight and has a ticket for the 6:20 AM Amtrak train tomorrow. She has no computer with her and her cell phone has no internet access. There was apparently a huge failure to communicate between her and the hotel shuttle driver on the way to the hotel tonight, because he had no idea what she meant when she asked about taking the shuttle back to the airport tomorrow to get to the train station. Her ticket says “Amtrak station BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.”</p>
<p>So, we are wondering:</p>
<ol>
<li>Is there such a station at the airport?</li>
<li>Where is it?</li>
<li>Is it at the Light Rail station easily visible on the BWI map, across from the International Arrivals terminal? Or somewhere else?</li>

<p>After 15 minutes trying to get a human being to answer at the airport, I figured our chances would be better here. Anyone?</p>
<p>Have your kid talk to the front desk clerk to confirm that the hotel shuttle driver will know where to go. And (obviously!) leave plenty of time in the morning to make sure she doesn’t miss the train.</p>
<p>Amtrak trains provide service to the BWI Marshall Rail Station, where free shuttles serve the airport terminal. Shuttle stops are located on the lower level terminal roadway in between door numbers 1 & 2, 8 & 9, 14 & 15, and 17 & 18. Shuttle buses from the BWI Marshall terminal building to the rail station operate every 12 min from 5:00am to 1:00am daily and every 25 min between 1:00am and 5:00am daily. Buses stop adjacent to the rail station garage, directly in front of the rail station. The BWI Rail Station is located one mile from the terminal building. <p>Hopefully someone else can chime in to confirm…there is an Amtrak/MARC station very close to bwi, but not IN BWI. From BWI, you would take a shuttle to get there.</p>
<p>Light rail (which is a local rail system, not the train) pulls into BWI.</p>
<p>Can the hotel front desk help her arrange transportation to the train station? Airport shuttle to airport, from airport to train station by another shuttle? Or, taxi from hotel to train station? (probably the most cost effective I suppose)</p>
<p>The BWI Amtrak station is about 5 minutes by bus from the aiport terminal. You can not walk from the terminal. It is not the same station as the light rail station right at the airport. If the hotel shuttle won’t drop your daughter at the Amtrak station, she should take the shuttle back to the airport, go to the lower level, and wait for a shuttle bus outside between the doors described above. The shuttle buses say something like BWI Amtrak station and do run very frequently. I would have her speak to a hotel manager to see if the shuttle can drop her at the Amtrak station. It’s very close to the aiport.</p>
