Can someone please give me feedback on my UC essay prompt #1?

Please give me all honest feedback on improving the essay.

“ Mom, why are we moving again?” I lost count on how many times I’ve said this phrase over the years. Every time I asked my parents, they never gave me a clear answer. I felt like we were running away from something, at the time me and my brother were too young to understand anything. We would move every one to two years into another city. I’ve lived in many parts of the bay area such as San Jose, Daly city, and even Palo Alto. The furthest I’ve ever live in was Houston,Texas. As I grow older, now nearing the adult age of eighteen. I understand the hardships and sacrifices my parents had made.
Although I haven’t ask my parents the question for sometime, I understood all the reasons why we went through the transitions frequently. As general as it may sound, my father had been laid off several times. My parents were immigrants from Vietnam, so there english was not great which made it hard to find stable jobs. Even though both my parents passed the citizen test; job searching heavily depended on english skills.
Around 2007, my mother was pregnant and carried my youngest brother Tommy. Its amazing to hear a new member would be joining our family but at the same time, it meant my mom had to quit her job. Thats when we decided to move to Houston Texas, where my father was offered a better job. But after three years, we decided to move back to California because my parents had saved enough money to buy a house. During the first few days living back in California, Tommy experience a very high fever. We later discovered he’s been diagnosed we leukemia. All of my parent’s dreams faded away as they solely focused on getting Tommy better.
For one thing, moving was pretty rough for me and my two brothers Teddy and Tommy. Since we relocated into multiple homes and apartments, schools were nothing new to us. The first few times, moving was terrible because my brother and I had to make new friends every time. But we realize moving allowed us to learned different cultures from different places. We got to see new things and meet many wonderful people. Although it’s unfortunate to become friends and leave shortly after, my brother and I had the pleasure of having a different persona each time. Our situation was not great as we dealt with my recovering brother and our finances but we made the most of it.
Now these are many events many people do not go through, nor any of my friends or peers. But these are the events that make me who I am today. I am not wealthy nor am I the smartest person in the world. But I am happy because my parents are fighters and believers. My strength comes from them and the life I come from. I want to make them proud by graduating college and find a stable job. My parents want me to have a life different from theirs, no more moving or transitioning jobs.

“my parents are fighters and believers”

Instead of focusing on moving, how about focusing your essay on how you’ve gained your identity as a fighter and believer. Take the reader through only those significant childhood experiences that led to this identity - not every event, just 3 to 4 with fine details. By the end of the essay, readers should firmly believe you and your family are fighters and believers.

Hope this helps. best of luck!

“Now these are many events many people do not go through” that “many” is too repetitive.
And don’t assume anything, a lot of people actually do go through those.
