I am starting to prepare for the SAT and essay writing is my weakest spot. Can you please give me feedback on my essay and examples you would put for this topic. I know my essay is really short.

Topic: Do people need to compare themselves with others in order to appreciate what they have?

People need to compare themselves to others in order to appreciate what they have. Many people take the food that they eat, house they live in, and many other blessings for granted.
My friend, Tom, went to Haiti immediately after he heard there was an earthquake. He called me from Haiti and told me he was mesmerized by the destruction the earthquake had caused. A week later Tom came back and visited. Tome told me it was an eye opening experience for him and how he will never forget to appreciate the blessings he had after visiting Haiti.
The movie Soul Surfer is another eye opening story. The soul surfer is about a teenage girl who loses her arm in a shark attack accident. The movie made the viewer realize how important an arm could be, which many people don’t think about or appreciate.
My friend, Tom, and the movie Soul Surfer changes the outlooks in life that one should appreciate what one has. After Tom’s experience and watching Soul Surfer it makes people realize that no matter how terrible their lives are, there is always someone in the world that has it a lot worse.
