Can someone please look over my essay? i have no idea how to score it!

Prompt: Studies of creativity often focus primarily on writers, artists, composers, and scientists. Political leaders are not usually considered to be very creative. Indeed, it is sometimes said that it is a good thing that leaders in general are not very creative, since an excess of creativity, especially in leaders who have to enforce rules, would only lead to trouble. Yet surely some degree of creativity is desirable in all walks of life.

Assignment: Do all people need to be creative? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Creativity is a key element in our society. Without creativity, the social can never advance into a better era. So I agree with the statement that all people need to be creative. The annotation of “creative” is having the ability or power to create, but it doesn’t mean being creative, one needs to be smart and create something out of nothing. Being creative could mean to use less effort to progress more. It could mean to adopt new methods instead of following the same old cliché.

Lazy people are the most creative ones among people. Why? Because they are too lazy to do anything. Comparing to solve all the annoying problems along with complex processes, they rather think of an easy way. Gideon Sundback is definitely a lazy person, too lazy to even tie his shoe laces. He hated to tie his shoelaces because first it’s hard to bend down over his own stomach fat. Second, the shoelaces were easy to loosen up and he needed to do it again. To top it off, there was no other way but to tie the shoes. So he came up a Y-shaped design with two facing rows of teeth that could be lock together when pulled into a single piece by the slider, which now known as the zipper. With this zipper, it’s not necessary to tie the shoes many times, saving time and energy used. Not only did he benefit from this, the social received benefits from his creative hugely.

Creativity would be also necessary for anyone who works hard even though the event he works on is not as important around the world. For instance, house wives stay at home most of the days; they are tired of cooking the same thing over again. Not only the procedure is boring, but also children and their partners would lose their appetite when they are seeing the same dish has been brought to the table time and time again. So house wives, in order to break this boredom, came up with different recipes. After all, who said that fries can only be fried in oil when it is delicious to pour some gravy and make them into pour-tine? These house wives may face difficulties in the beginning, but no one will succeed without a few failures. It now came to the fact that, without creativity, the world would be a less fun and diverse universe.

As these two examples demonstrated, everyone could be and needs to be creative. This idea applies to everyone no matter his or her role. From scientist to housewife to janitor to accountant, everyone contributes a little to the worlds by being creative. With all this creativity from different people in different parts of the world, together we are making the world a better place.

Thank you >.<

I don’t have much experience in grading essays, but I think your two examples are not very strong because the first one seems very strange, and shoes don’t have zippers usually, right? It just sounds a little weak. The second example is also too vague; referring to housewives in general may be a bad idea. Again, you would probably want to use a literary example such as a novel.
However, I think you did support only one side, so the weak part was just your examples.

Thank you ^_^

Ok that was a pretty amusing treatment of the question.

You have creativity being used in some unusually applications for the general benefit. I would have like to see you throw in a couple of more dishes in addition to poutine to show the general applicability of creativity to the home cook.

Your conclusion attempts to address the prompt (" everyone could be and needs to be creative") so thats good, but I dont think it gets over the hump. Everyone needs to be creative but why? You gave us two examples where it worked out, but I think you need more. Perhaps a third example where you consider and dismiss a counter argument.
