Can someone please tell me if I have a Fighting chance?

<p>Here are my stats first:</p>

<p>I will major in either English or a social science keep this in mind! I will emphasize on my app how the 520 in math proves I can pass gen ed requirements and that my reading and writing scores show I am smart (enough) in that area.</p>

<p>3.5 unweighted 4.06 weighted top 33%
SAT: 520 math 670 reading 710 writing-- first time no preparation</p>

<p>Still gotta take the SAT II’s- will do U.S. History and Lit</p>

<p>3 on AP Spanish w/o taking the class 4 on AP World (A in the class first semester)</p>

<p>Cross Country and track each season sportsmanship award x3</p>

<p>Job since I was 10</p>

<p>160 volunteer hours helping little kids at ymca camp</p>

<p>applying for another job now</p>

<p>I made more changes to my senior year schedule so I am taking 7 AP classes. My counselor said I could send out a first quarter report to colleges and it would strengthen my chances if they are good.</p>

<p>UMichigan, Univ. of Illinois (UIUC), Boston College, UNC-CH, Cal, UCLA, Wisconsin</p>

<p>I still have to take the SAT II’s - I will take U.S. History and Literature. Is there anywhere that I can hope to get in/are there any schools I should just cross off my list.</p>

<p>Definitely retake SATI and boost that math score up if you can.</p>

<p>I don’t think you have a chance at UCLA or UNC unless your SATs improve 200+ points. Even then they are still reaches. Try to get your SAT over 1250 for BC. Decent shot at UW and UMich, but more of a reach at UMich. </p>

<p>The only things you can do are take the SAT at least once more. Take the ACT at least once (my ACT equivalent is 200 points higher than my highest SAT – this could help you). Work your ass off first semester and ask whatever higher power for some help. Good luck!</p>

<p>You don’t need to apply everywhere early. Take SAT in November. You probably have 10>% shot at UCLA and UCB, 15>% at UNC with those scores. OOS is insane at these schools. Wisconsin is a match, UIUC is high match/low reach. Everywhere else is reach/little to no chance with those scores.</p>

<p>Take the ACT. It is easier for some people.</p>

<p>Well, adcoms see all of your SAT scores on the CB report, so it’s not like you’ll be able to hide it or anything. ACT, on the other hand, lets you pick and choose which score you want adcoms to see. </p>

<p>Also, it should be noted that many selective colleges are swithcing to requiring either SAT I + 2 SAT IIs, OR ACT + writing. If you do well on the ACT, this may seriously benefit you. However, be advised that if you do well on the ACT, and send that in, but for some reason also send in your SAT IIs, adcoms will see your SAT I scores as well. Here is what you should do: take the ACT on September 13th. Take your SAT IIs October 4th. Then when you get your ACT back (which will be either the week of October 4 or the next week, decide if you need to take the SAT I again. Either way, you need to test again to have a shot at your high reach schools.</p>
