Can someone solve my problem????

Okay so heres the thing, i applied for priority admission to uiuc with a 1980 sat score. my intended major is Computer Engineering. Now the problem is that i just received my november sat scores and got a 2170. according to my knowledge, uiuc doesnt accept november scores for priority admission, so how do i communicate this increase in score to them(since i think a difference of almost 200 will improve my chances significantly)???

SAT 1980 is not likely to be enough for Computer Engineering at UIUC that you should not apply EA at the first place but wait for better scores. You should call the adcom to see if they can switch you to RD with the new score.

Order scores sent immediately. Priority application requires that you have submitted required materials by application deadline. You did so and met the requirements to be considered for priority application. You are now just updating your file and new scores might be considered if they arrive before a decision is made on you. Also, send an email or letter to admissions office informing it of the new scores and that the official scores are being sent.

i had sent in my 1980 before the deadline and on the app page it says that i am being considered for priority admission. i havent yet sent my 2170 to uiuc because i was under impression that they wont accept it. the decision comes out on 13th dec, do you think that if i order the scores to be sent now they will reach in time to be considered??

Frankly, SoccerGuy, just send the scores ASAP. Don’t wait for someone here to provide an opinion as to whether your scores will be considered in time. They don’t know. Drusba knows admissions, and he told you what to do. Follow his advice. He is, by far, the commenter here with the most inside knowledge, and although I’ve never seen him admit it, I believe he is part of UIUC admissions. Also, first call admissions and let them know in addition to the email. Do this first thing Monday morning at 8:30am. UIUC receives act scores electronically, so it will receive the scores quickly once you send them. You’re not guarenteed acceptance with a 2170, but you were definitely below average with your previous 1980. Good luck.

Thank you balthezar, i have already ordered the reports to be sent. i also wrote to the uiuc admissions office and they told me that they will get them and add them to my profile but they cannot guaruntee that they will consider them. well anyways, its at least better than nothing. and Thank you guys for helping me out again :D

Also, SoccerGuy7, I would go to the ACT website and print out the page with your scores on it, scan it into a PDF if possible (FedEx maybe), and send it in via email after calling and letting them know it’s coming. They are not considered official, and I can’t guarentee that they’ll even let you do it or consider it if you do, but it has to be better than just you saying you got a 2170. At any rate, it wouldn’t hurt to try.

I say this because this year, I’ve had two colleges lose transcripts that my daughter had sent in during the summer. At the time she sent them, I had her get a copy that I scanned. At the various college deadlines, I called to confirm receipt of all materials and lo-and-behold, two of the colleges tell me that they don’t have the transcripts that they had previously confirmed receipt of. I immediately sent in our copy which they accepted, and contacted her high school to follow up with a replacement transcript. In both cases they said they would process the application with the transcript that I sent in via PDF, if I followed up and resent the transcript from the school again. Just sayin…but UIUC might not work that way.
