Can the Police Really Do that?

So razorsharp, is the kid I described earlier who got high on something, stripped naked, broke into a house and ****ed off in front of a little girl a “good guy”? Because he seems to be going on with his life as if nothing had happened. He is graduating from a prestigious college and heading to grad school or a professional job. When people see the parents at parties, the subject of the incident never comes up. They are as proud of him as any of us whose kids have never done such stupid things. And the same slack is cut for all the kids who have been shipped off to expensive drug treatment facilities in Utah or Montana, or who have had DUIs, or who have gotten into stupid bar fights. We still all accept that they are Good People despite their indiscretions.

Wait, I thought he was a robbery suspect when he was shot and had potentially committed an assault on an officer if you believe the cops swollen face injury came from the scuffle… But, he was suspect.

Apparently black kids are doomed from the start.

How did he supposedly go from not a suspect when the police officer initially accosted the two teens, to a robber suspect when the officer reversed the car and came up right next to them? That’s a period of, like, 10 seconds.

Wait, I thought he was a robbery suspect when he was shot and had potentially committed an assault on an officer if you believe the cops swollen face injury came from the scuffle… But, he was suspect.

Whatcha been reading, acting?

Because the police chief kept changing his story.

The officer saw the stolen cigars. That’s when he became a robbery suspect. You’re right. It was seconds after the stop.

How did he know they were stolen? Black kids don’t carry cigars? C’mon.

But he didn’t KNOW they were stolen!

Yeah, he did. A call went out over the radio. There would be tape of that, too. But he was in the car so he had to hear it. A customer called 911 from the convenience store.

And so the next logical step was to execute him?

No, of course not. This is where we are missing pieces. Was there a fight? Did Brown go for the cops gun? We don’t really know what happened next. But, something else did. It’s really just as difficult for me to believe that a cop just whacked out and decided to shoot a kid in broad daylight in the middle of the street for no reason. But, maybe he did. IDK.

Acting, check some more recent statements. And try to find a timeline because even some reports today are telling details from two days ago or more.

I would not want that guy in my neighborhood any more than I would want Brown in my neighborhood. If I knew of the details of his action, I would not hire him any more than I would have hired Brown after seeing him steal and assault the clerk. On the other hand, people can change. If the kid admitted his mistake and understood what he did was wrong and made sure he did not repeat such behavior that would be different. The same is true for Brown had he lived.

The good guy was the man who put some of the items Brown stole back on the counter. He knows right from wrong and had the guts to refrain from bad behavior rather than join in his friend’s misdeeds.

Acting, You’re not black. Black experience with police is 180 degrees from white experience with police. Statistics clearly show that. Open your eyes.

What does that mean, LF?

It means it’s not the same. Don’t be daft dude. I’m sure you’re old enough to know this.

Cops killing/murdering folks isn’t unheard of. Just look at what happened when Dan White proceeded to assassinate Harvey Milk, the ensuing trial, heavyhanded and illegal acts by SFPD*, fury at his acquittal, etc.

The feeling of the incident and police excesses/coverup among those outraged could be encapsulated in the Dead Kennedy’s version of “I fought the law”

Covering up their identity badges to avoid being identified while beating up protestors.

My question was about being a suspect, not about being black. Oh my.

Cobrat, Ferguson police are using the same tactic in the current troubles.
