I took COP1000 (intro to computer programming) at Palm Beach State College and a lady at Florida State University admissions said that I have to take COP3014 which is essentially the equivalent of COP1000 but a 3000-level class. Do you think I should not have to take COP3014 and go straight to object-oriented programming (the next level class)? I’m going to email the vice rector Monday morning (I’m in another country that has a local FSU campus) anyways but I want your input. Thanks.

You can petition to have your records evaluated for specific equivalency for the course you want to replace. You will need to be able to present copies of the course syllabus, the textbook, and all graded work that has been returned to you. So make certain that you have all of these materials in hand. This sort of evaluation is not likely to be made by the vice rector, but that person should be able to tell you who it is that you need to communicate with. Sometimes only the faculty members who teach the course that is being replaced are able to make the final evaluation.
Part of your problem is that you want to use a 1000 level course (introductory level) to replace a 3000 level course (advanced level). If the content and rigor are determined to be substantially the same, it might be possible to waive the specific requirement for 3014 as a pre-requisite for object-oriented programming, but it is almost certain that you will be required to take an additional 3000 level course in the major so as to fulfill requirements for number of credits in advanced level courses.
