Yeah???

what about the carbonation? and the phosphoric acid?

I think all that makes for you is diet lemonade…

carbonation? Couldn’t you just buy a carbonation kit? or visit ur local chemistry department??

hahahhahahah i guess so. but sprite isn’t just carbonated lemonade… it’s better than that. lmao, i dunno. something’s missing.

Youre missing the sprinkle of happiness that can only come from our friends at the Coca-Cola company.

Your forgetting the artificial flavoring, and the thick syrup that coke makes.

All those wonderful chemicals they have under their disposal.

Diet is nasty. Also, artificial sweeteners have [side effects](http://www.medicinenet.com/artificial_sweeteners/page9.htm#sucralosecon).

use packets of stevia!

sounds like…water with sugar and lemon?

With the amount of time and money it would take to make “pseudo diet sprite” you might as well have bought yourself a can of it from the vending machine…

lollll

mm, chlorine is a necessary nutrient in the body too. just because it has chlorine doesn’t mean that it’s toxic. Afterall, “Chlorinated organic compounds are found in nearly every class of biomolecules including alkaloids, terpenes, amino acids, flavonoids, steroids, and fatty acids.”

and those side effects - are generic side effects that can come from any medication

artificial sweeteners aren’t good thought. i don’t remember what it was, but it’s something that has to do with the fact that your body doesn’t recognize it as a “real” suger.

I’ll have to look later.

which is the entire point of them, and why they’re better than sugar :D

hm, yeah, I don’t think the argument for stevia/zylitol over sucralose is that sucralose is harmful (studies haven’t shown that to be the case) - I think it’s that those alternatives may actually be healthful (which is maybe not surprising because they are natural compounds).

truth is, that even stevia may not be any better than artificial sweeteners. all sweeteners trick the brain into thinking it is about to eat. the only difference is that at least artificial sweeteners don’t **** your blood glucose up like sugar does

maybe that’s a question i should ask kaeberlein when i meet him actually - whether or not artificial sweeteners start inducing the horrible mTOR, IGF-1, and insulin related pathways

yes, that is very interesting. It is like how the effects of the calorie restriction were mitigated when rats were exposed to the smell of food (average lifespans were reduced by like 10-12% IIRC, compared to the ones not exposed to the odors).

this study made me very paranoid :(. whenever I’m around baked bread I try to resist smelling it (because boy does the smell stimulate a strong response).

it’s actually fruit flies though: [The Scent of a Calorie: Whiff of Food Cancels Longevity from Caloric Restriction: Scientific American](<a href=“The Scent of a Calorie: Whiff of Food Cancels Longevity from Caloric Restriction - Scientific American”>The Scent of a Calorie: Whiff of Food Cancels Longevity from Caloric Restriction - Scientific American)

oh, thanks!

wow, i’m just imagining, it would be pretty sad to expose rats on CR to enticing smells.

Buy Seltzer water, get some lemons and limes, splenda, & phosphoric acid and you got some soda.

I recommend you use real sugar cane sugar.

^^put them on adderall and they won’t care anymore :D
