I see a definite passion for cello :)

Do you plan to major in performance?

uh not really lol. i do plan to continue music with yale’s great orchestra, but i wanna major in engineering. so i really want to develop passion in research the next two years. can u help me out? thx

Well, I’m a flute player, not as seriously into it as you seem to be (like 7-8 hours a week, not 20!), but I have noticed that serious musicians tend to make great scientists. We have a ‘passion’ for detail and nuance, we see the big picture instead of individual notes. I want to go into Molecular Biology, but if I make it into Yale I’ll definitely try to join the orchestra as well.

Now, a passion is not something you can consciously develop. But you already have an interest, and once you get deeper into engineering, you’ll probably find you do have the passion for it. I don’t know what to do with my own application with all the ECs in music or writing when I want to go into Bio. What are you going to do? We’ll put down all the music stuff, then write essays on science, I suppose.

yea i had that feeling too. i have all this music, but wheres my science? lol. well i plan to write one essay on how i enjoyed music, how i loved expressing myself thru it, and how great it felt to help others through music, stuff like that. and i guess my second essay will be based on research stuff. are u going to be a senior? probably right? im going to be a junior… i hope u can get into yale and the same goes for me of course. maybe we’ll see eachother in the orchestra lol. thx for ur advice.

woo i see your biggest passion as collegeconfidential at the moment

You definitely have a passion: the cello. I have to agree with tkm256 as great musicians do make amazing scientists. Good luck!

wow thx a lot lol. im so touched. really…

word. your music really does stand out, and it seems like it’s your biggest thing. this is good. the downside is that there’s a looot of people who’ve performed in all-eastern orchestras or bands or choirs, who’ve won lots of concerto competitions, etc. that’s not really related to passion though. just thought i’d throw that in there. but yeah, I do see a passion for music.

woo, u definitely need to calm down with your resume posting. people’s opinions wont really change if you post the same thing many times.

You can put NHS as an academic honor? I didn’t know that.
