can washu reject an early decision applicant?

do EDers get flat out rejected or do they, like some schools, automatically put you with the RD people if you’re not accepted ED?

another question:
if my grades are not where i want them to be right now, but i want washu to know that they are my first choice, should i apply ED? or should i wait until first semester of senior year is over?

bump bump bump

Doubt that one semester would make that big of an impact on your GPA. ED would be the best decision if you KNOW you want to go to Wash U. I’m not positive, but I believe that many get deferred, but some do get rejected ED.

Yes, you can get rejected flat out in Early Decision. When you do Early Decision, you can get 3 options: a) accepted (good for you!) b) Deferred (places you back into RD) c) straight out rejected (your application doesn’t get sent to RD).

As for the second question, I’d definitely agree with DJ Eureka. Doing ED would definitely help your chances. WashU requires the first quarter GPA for ED so try to do well through at least the quarter and maintain it to make sure you don’t get rescinded. Furthermore, you can “buff” up your application by doing EC this summer.
