Can we afford Obama's plan?

Can we afford his educational plan? Can we afford to give everyone to have the federal insurance plan? Can we afford his oil plan?

Just asking

Probably not. But whatever gets votes for him.

I really think this is one of the flaws of Obama(even though he is clearly the best candidate in the field). He has the most sensible plans for improving these national problems. Ending the Iraq War would go a long way, but…the money put into that war is borrowed money in the first place(i.e. [skyrocketing national debt](http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/)).

Can we afford to continue the Iraq war with no end in sight? Can we afford to go to war with Iran? Just asking.

Well, we can raise taxes or cut spending elsewhere. Hint: One of those pretty much never happens.

ALTHOUGH he did say he’d fund some educational thing by bumping NASA for a few years. I strongly disagree with that particular example but at least maybe he’s willing to cut spending.

Bama said he will make college affordable to every American who wants it, since going to college is not a privillege for few.

Beg to be different. Going to college should be a privillege and by way of making moderate sacrifice. Can you see every mechanic, every line-cook
having a bachelor or master degree ?

I don’t understand the huge investment in education to people WHO WILL NEVER USE IT. We don’t need ditch diggers with bachelors degrees. If someone’s not smart enough to do even moderately professional tasks they should not be pushed into college. If they want to go, they should pay for it, not me.

No sense in having a “Change that You Can Believe In” unless its a big change.
No sense in having a wish list, unless you make a big wish.

W had a pretty big wish list; I forget what it was; Does it now matter? W proposed a 10 year program to colonize the Moon. Who remembers? What about home ownership for all who want homes. Your stimulus package got you what?

Democratic party credo:

You can have anything you wanted. All you have to do is vote for the right politicians.

See: [Cost of the Iraq War](http://www.mediazine.net/iraq/)

A college degree is only worth something if you made some sacrifice for it.

Don’t understand how cost of iraq war relates. Two wrongs don’t make a right. We spent $$ foolishly on Irock, why not do same to education, is that your argument ?

What was the bill to pay for the aftermath of September 11? Oh wait… those buildings will never be rebuilt so we’ll never know…

Oh good grief, nobody is going to force anyone to go to college. Not everyone even wants to go to college, Evest and Mr Payne. And not everyone who goes to college can succeed academically. The ideology is to make college more readily available to all those who are willing to work for a degree. As the US becomes more technologically dependent, a college degree alone is loosing it’s buying power. Fifty years ago, a high school diploma was not absolutely necessary in order for one to make a nominal living wage. Now, a high school diploma won’t get you more than slightly above minimum wage. Today’s BA degree is rapidly becoming the High School Diploma of yesterday.

Hmmmmm…that sounds eerily similar to the “slaves don’t need to be taught to read” doctrine. That was said with a condescendingly elitist tone, too.

Obama’s “plans” always involve more government involvement, more government departments and programs, and more money. How is that improving anything?

This is how we’re in the big government mess we are in right now. Everytime someone thinks somebody needs help, and government panel is formed and that panel never goes away. Obama preaches change but he is just like every political scum before him; he is the same.

Ok?

Yep.

Maybe. For some degrees, sure.

And you somehow think that more people getting degrees is going to alleviate the situation? If the market was oversaturated with degrees wouldn’t that mean we want less degrees?

You’re right - I should take my elite 4k/year state school education elsewhere.

How can you force oil companies to spend their profits on capital investments they determine are unworthy?

How can government force state and local governments to spend more money on education if they feel it’s not warranted?

How can you offer UHC to everyone equal to the government’s health plan and expect the American taxpayers to afford it?

Finally, When is government over reaching with regards to its responsibilities to its citizens?

Can I expect any limitations on government?

Has society lost it’s ability to define governments boundaries?
