For my engineering supplement or will it look bad that the idea is flawed. I acknowledged in my essay the idea was flawed due to my limited knowledge

Can a idea for a smartphone app be an engineering idea?
Thanks.

you aren’t an engineer yet… you think they expect a 17 year old to have designed something flawlessly? If you wanna say you wanna make some that does xyz but it will never work or something ridiculous then it will look bad.

I talked about how I tried to make a martingale that didn’t work in my essay for stats.

I did not write about an idea when I applied, but just expressed my interest and fit for COE (with good stats of course). Don’t sound contrived by stretching an idea that just won’t work is my personal take. That said, if it works, then by all means go ahead! :)

Damn that’s a pretty good topic. In retrospect I should I have wrote something like that – modelling phenomenon with Poisson random variables, or something. I wrote a detailed critique of some obscure 14th century poem.

Lol. Peter what did 1 year in CoE do to your brain! :P

As an ED acceptee, I wrote about an existing technology and how it should be innovated and expanded to be used widely and more efficiently. I did have a few completely original ideas, but didn’t want to sound too far fetched or unrealistic since I don’t really have the knowledge to properly back them up at this point.

^Agreed. When they look at it, they’re going to understand that you’re a high school student. Attempting to impress them at their own game (this is the eng staff reviewing the app after all) without being able to fully deliver might fall flat.
