I’m a freshman engineering student studying at Arizona State Online. I got accepted to Drexel but was not able to attend this year because of cost. My parents collectively make too much for me to get a sizable grant. When I was accepted, the cost for each year was still going to be about $30k. Parents said no so I couldn’t go. They are convinced that I should not be majoring in engineering, and maybe that along with the cost made their mind up then. My dilemma is that I want to transfer to Drexel for Fall 2016 so that I can still complete all 3 co-ops, but I am not sure if my parents will say no or not. If I get accepted for Fall of 2016 is there any way I could “defer” or decline admission and wait until Fall 2017? Or would they be fed up and auto reject me the third time around?
It may seem obvious to talk to my parents about this and believe me I have tried. They always deflect my questions and just dodge the conversation in general. Your opinions are much appreciated! Thank you!
