OR (and this one is more likely given the odds in the general population) he could be just totally slacking off & relishing in his newfound freedom away from Mom and Dad that he’s decided to goof off for the first X number of weeks of the semester…until he gets his midterm grades and panics.
Just focus on your own classes, major, readings, assignments. You’ll be the one with the last laugh when the first semester grades come out and you have a good GPA and he’s on academic probation.
