can you buy computers through ucsd? if so, what brands/prices?
:)

apple gives you an education discount. Look it up on their site and then you click on the college you’re going to (UCSD).

Actually, its not just Apples. They have a variety of PCs as well: <a href=“UC San Diego Bookstore”>UC San Diego Bookstore;

Yes, and their prices are generally pretty good. They also have some really good prices on software so I suggest you buy MS Office and other software through the bookstore. They have prices that are only available through educational institutions.

everyone get thinkpads!!!

i got one and its never let me down

get T series

Thinkpads are very expensive.

what is so good about thinkpads??

my main motive: IBMs thinkpads recently got bought by lenovo, which is a company based in China (ihave to support my own country)

secondary: the best business laptop. period.

other: best notebook security (software and fingerprint reader) and the best keyboard (u know youre gonna need a good keyboard)

expensive? well, sort of… but its lasting me 5 years! (about $1800 with a leather case and 1gb of ram, pentium m 2.0 ghz, and 60gb hd… not to mention the fingerprint reader, which is kind of standard now)

and it has a very, very study build but stays under 1 inch thick and is around 5lbs heavy.

you can’t beat the ibm warentee. that’s why.

Macbook Pro’s are really cheap right now at UCSD (because Apple decided to up the speed by ~.15 so the original top of the line model is 700 off the original price) and you can dual boot OSX and Windows. You just need your PID to buy stuff with the student discount at UCSD. I’m so glad I had one…
