Can you chance me for Ivies and T20? [international, 96/100 GPA, 35 ACT]

Demographics: White, Female, International

GPA: 96/100 (Top %10)

IELTS: 8.5

ACT: 35/36

APs: 8 APs with 5s: Comparative Government, Calculus BC, English Lang and Comp, Micro-Macro Econ, French, World History, and Statistics.

School Clubs: Secretary at the MUN (also was head of the Political and Human Rights committees in past conferences) and vice president of Debate Society (led teams in international debate championships). President of the History Club where we wrote pieces for our history magazine in academic format. Some of my pieces were published in small social science magazines. Also part of Drama Society - wrote plays for some of our shows. Treasurer at Student Government.

Extracurriculars: Member of the Student Senate in my country and Labour Party. I volunteered as an observer in the past local elections for a day. General Secretary of the official MUN conference of my country. Part-time writer in a small, leftist magazine. Also took university-level courses in Political Sciences and Economics. Modeled to pay the expenses for summer residential programs. Together with the Student Senate, one of our projects was funded by the EU.

Research: Was part of university-led research about the female labor force and how immigration impacted domestic politics. I conducted self-research on whether the capitalist system could fully explain the Westernization process of some Eastern Empires or if there was an organic connection with the Enlightenment thinkers. In addition to this, I have conducted other research on topics such as Nazi Germany and Hitler’s inner circle, as well as the economic and political causes of World War I, though these are narrower in scope. I also compared the Great Depression with the fall of the Roman Empire from a macroeconomic perspective. Some of these pieces have been published in smaller journals.

Community Involvement: Volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged girls for 4 years. Also volunteered to tutor kids in a low-income village while staying together with local host families. Also worked in an NGO supporting women who are survivors of domestic violence.

Awards: Best delegate in the Hague MUN, several debate championships, 4th place in Philosophy Olympiads in my country, Harvard GlobalWE essay winner, etc.

Personally don’t see myself getting accepted to Ivies and believe Oxford PPE would be a better fit for me but curious about your opinion. My intended majors are Politics, Economics, and Philosophy.

Your GPA and ACT meet the bar, and your ECs sound interesting, but your chances are still low for Ivies.

Can you afford nearly 400K for a private undergrad education in the US? Or do you need financial aid?

You definitely can get into a decent college in the US; the question is whether you can afford it, whether you need financial aid, whether you’re interested in going to a slightly less prestigious college in the US. You do have a very small chance of getting into a top school, including those that are need-blind for internationals.

Why do you think my chances are that low for Ivies?

You are a viable candidate for any university. But as I’m sure you know, the acceptance rates for elite US universities are absurdly low – even more so for an international student. It is impossible to chance for these schools as much will depend on things that cannot or should not be shared on a public forum such as essays, LORs, etc.

As I tell everyone, be sure to crraft a well balanced application list with reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable and that you would be excited to attend.

Wishing you the best as you go through the process.

For these interests, you may benefit from considering colleges with an available major in public policy. This interdisciplinary major relies on the fields of political science, economics and philosophy for its foundation.

Because the acceptance rate for US applicants with perfect GPAs and perfect SATs to these highly selective schools is low. For international students, it’s even lower.

Do you need financial aid? Do you or your family have nearly 400K to spend on a private college education in the US? If not, how much can you/your family afford?

Thanks so much  If I have to be fully honest I have an excellent support system in my school (an Ivy feeder) but just wondered how well I can communicate my stats to outsiders and how my profile would be seen by folks in here and on Reddit. I also gotta admit that the fact that this site has a reputation for slightly over-competitive parents drew me here.

I also wish luck to anyone who reads this thread and on their application journey.

I expect the guidance counselor at your Ivy feeder high school would be in the best position to assess your chances. Good luck.

I have no idea why you’re here, either. You have excellent stats and a great test score, but you seem dissatisfied with the truth - that your chances of getting into an Ivy or T20, as an international, are not great, no matter your excellent stats, because the competition is so fierce. If money is no object (and you keep refusing to answer that question), then probably most 2nd tier LACs would be happy to have you as a full pay student, plus many flagship state U’s would take you, with no fin aid. You might get into a top school, but the odds are against it.

But since you already have excellent support at your Ivy-feeder school, you really don’t need any advice. Best of luck to you in your application process.

Such a high school probably has dedicated college counselors who can give you a much better idea of which highly selective universities are more likely to see you as fitting their needs and wants, and advise you to apply accordingly.

For your reach schools, I suggest you look at least as deep as #30 in a general ranking of U.S. schools such as this one:
