Can you check out test prep books from the library?

Can you actually take them home or do you have to use them there? I realize every library may have their own policies but in general…

It depends on the libraries. I think if you have a library card which is valid to the library, you can check out those test prep books that are in circulation , but not those reference test prep books.

Yes, at many libraries you can check them out. Please be considerate of others and don’t write in them.

Most of them you can check out although check with their policies.

Do not write in the books- you will be fined. Also, its very difficult when using is the answers are there.

Good Luck!

I just checked out several. Our library had plenty of them. They all had some
writing in them from inconsiderate users, but saves a lot of money!

My experience is that it depends on the library. Some libraries keep the test prep books for reference alone and one cannot check them out. I have also been to libraries where you can check them out, although most books have long holds on them. One other option would be to buy them used from some place like half.com, one should be able to find the older editions of the official SAT guide for $5.

For the actual practice tests you want to be able to write in the just like the real test. Buy these.

Your school may also have a College Prep Center in which they have prep books.

It depends on the library. Many public libraries allow you to check them out. If yours does not, then just schedule a couple of hours in there on a Saturday and get up on it.

One should definitely check out their local and school library as the policy and availability vary. My D solely rely on the library material and she got at least half a dozen prep book from there for each test. Those books are more or less disposable that you only use them once. If it is not available at your library, try to form a book exchange club with peers that each may buy a different prep book and share.
