If you volunteer in a nursing home, scribing for a wound care dr., would this be considered clinical experience, volunteering or shadowing? Can it be considered all 3 on the application?

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking, but…

on your AMCAS/AACOMAS applications each activity can only have one category label.

IOW, you cannot list the SAME activity as both clinical experience and volunteering, for example. You have to pick one category.

You do get a limited number of characters to describe each activity so you can include of list of duties and experiences in the description.

That answers the question. Thanks. I wasn’t aware of the format for activities on the application.

So if this EC is considered clinical experience, even though it is non paying, then volunteer work needs to be something else entirely? There is still time to do it all…Just don’t want to be caught short on anything.

volunteering…

Med school applicants are expected to have non-clinical, community service volunteering as well as clinical volunteering.

Gotcha… Thanks! So much to know on this journey.
