Can you get loans at anytime during the academic year?

<p>I usually get my loans at the beginning of the school year but can you get them later during the semester? </p>

<p>I want to get my pell grant and other grants at the beginning of the semester but get my stafford loan later in the semester.</p>

<p>Also I turn 24 during in January and will become independent. Will my loan amount automatically change for the spring semester? Will I have to wait for the next school year?</p>

Next year. You don’t change your FAFSA just because you turn 24 during the academic year.</p>

<p>^^agree, your dependency status will change for the next school year, not the current one. Your 2013-2014 FAFSA is based on your age during 2013 - if you turned 24 before December 31 2013 you would be independent for the 2013-2014 school year.</p>
