<p>In the film,“Edward Scissorhands” directed by Tim Burton, an important idea was the relationships. It was the mosts strongest theme in the film and it was also shown through the two main characters - Edward and Kim. This idea is shown through visual and verbal features such as the Camera Work, Music and the Dialogue. These visual and verbal features are used throughout the film.</p>
<p>The Camera Work used in “Edward Scissorhands” is one of the visual features in the film that shows the important idea of relationships. It indicated the affection between Edward and Kim by using alot of medium shots with both characters in the scene. An example would be when Edward is hugging Kim. The Camera slowly zooms up and this showed Edwars facial expressions and also his emotions towards the situation. This made the scene the most memorable event in the film. The Camera work in this scene also made me focus on the two characters and less on the background. </p>
<p>A verbal feature used in the film is the use of music. There was a specific piece of music t hat the composer used everytime Edward and Kim shared a scene together. This piece of music sounded mystical and magical and it also demonstrated how fairytale- like the film was. This shows that Edward and Kims relationship was very youthful and in a process of being in a strong realationship. The Music also portrayed their relationship as being verisimilatude and ’ too good to be true’.</p>
<p>Another verbal feature in the film was the use of the dialogue shared between Edward and Kim. This shows that their relationship is important when they are reunited in the lounge and Kim whispers softly to Edward,“…hold me…” Another example would be when Edward is released from the police station and Kim asks," are you alright?".</p>
