<p>Some schools require that students enroll in 4 years of math, science, history, and English during their high school years. The faculty believes that such requirements will compel students to build a well-rounded foundation of knowledge. Other schools allow that students to select classes with no minimum requirements and argue that students will be encouraged to follow strengths. Do you believe that schools should require 4 years of core subjects for all students?</p>

<p>Over 95% of the high schools nationwide set 4-year core standards in order for students to graduate. Core subjects are types of classes students take for a specific amount of time, years, in order to graduate. Core standards are like adaptations for survival. High Schools acknowledge that 4-year core subjects are necessary in order for student success. I believe 4-year core subjects should be enforced in every high school. 4-year core subjects should be enforced in order to increase student academic performance, which can help students prepare for college.</p>
<p>To start off, 4-year core subjects can help raise student performance academically. Jessica Whitney, school principal of Fitz High School in Canada, stated that increasing the number of years for core subjects has increased ACT and SAT scores dramatically. Students are doing better in each and every class due to 4-year core subjects. Dr. Chang, neurologist of Loyola Medical Hospital, said that students engage in learning more and more; the brain is retaining more and more information, which in turn can help students towards future careers. Parents, nationwide, are shocked with the score increase and, nevertheless, figured out the significance of 4-year core subjects.</p>
<p>Taking this a little further, increasing student performance helps students prepare for college. Mr. Ritz, a Multivariable Calculus teacher, said students are taking AP Calculus BC and then enter college with a rigorous math course such as Multivariable Calculus. This shows that students take more rigorous courses in college due to advanced studies in high schools. Bill Gates, an entrepreneur of Microsoft, says more and more students are talented and gifted with limitless imagination and creativity. College administrations experience the effect of 4-year core subjects on students test scores as well as better pupil student transcript. </p>
<p>Although 4-year core subjects help students academically and prepare them for college, some believe 4-year core subjects decreases student rights and better performance leads to more competition at certain colleges. I disagree with this opinion. Some students believe core subjects decreases student rights, but those students dont understand whats better for their education. Those pupils are displaying laziness and lack of interest in educational studies. Consequently, increased admission competition doesnt matter to students applying to top schools because better performance leads to an increased chance of getting into favorable colleges. Over 96% percent of students with 4.0 GPA and 36 ACT or 2400 SAT scores get into top colleges like Ivy Leagues. Students should be required to take 4-year core subjects if they to make something out of themselves.</p>
<p>Overall, better academic performance is achieved by the increasing the number of years required to take core subjects. Many students improve their GPA and test scores, students are better prepared for college, and academic performance increases the chances of going to a favorable college, not the total opposite as how some students would think. I believe 4-year core subjects can help students make something out of them and express their talents. 4-year core subjects should enter the graduation requirements.</p>
