Took three AP tests, but they were all
threes so I’m not going to report.

11- I was a special programs executive. I initiated a peer tutoring program, started a fundraiser for Nepal Earthquake victims(Earned 500$), and started a teaching program for underprivileged
inner-city kids.

I was chosen by my school counselor to do HOBY(Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership) Sophomore year.

I’ve been playing piano for around 11 years, but no special awards or anything.

Volunteering
Traveled to Korea and taught Act prep at an Underprivileged, multiethnic
School. Around 60 hours

I also taught at our local community
Center to underprivileged kids for 80+hours(going to continue)

I interned and volunteered at our Congressman Aaron Schocks office for around 50 hours.

I also interned with the VP of product management and strategy at File Serve and Express.(50 hours)

Awards
I know almost everybody has this but…
High honors every year
WYSE tournament- 3rd place in State
AMC- (I didn’t do so well) 2nd place at our school.

I think the thing I am missing most in my application are good SAT II scores, so I’m going to study my butt off for the October test.

So this is everything guys, I would really appreciate it if you guys gave me some feedback.

Which is better?
(1) You honestly self-report the scores.
(2) You don’t self-report the scores and let admissions officers assume you outright failed all of them.

So are you saying it’s better to report the mediocre scores?

@KrazyKorean -If you don’t report, adcoms will generally assume you got a 1 or maybe a 2. The only situation where it makes sense to not report a score is when you have a 1, because it’s then impossible for an adcom to assume your results are worse than they actually are.

Which school would you be applying to? It’s hard to tell at this point. Medill would be a stretch, but I could potentially see an acceptance to Weinburg.

I would report at least 2/3 AP scores

NHS is one of those activities that doesn’t really mean much at selective institutions.

If you apply ED to Weinberg, I think you have a great shot. ED really helps your chances because you’re showing a lot of interest. Good luck!
