Can you help me (Engineering Problem)?

Hi, I’m applying RD into Engineering. For one of the Engineering essays, it says: “Because there is a common core curriculum within Engineering, students need not select a specific area until their junior year. We are curious, however, as to whether any particular program within Engineering presently appeals to you. Please discuss that choice if you have one.” I don’t know what type of Engineer I want to be, but should I answer that question anyway? Did anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Anyone? I would really appreciate it!

Even if you are not sure about the branches of engineering you want to study, pick up one about which you have some general idea. There are several branches of engineering. Try to have some general idea of which branch does what – you probably already know that. For example a civil engineer designs houses, bridges, power plant structures. Take the example of world trade center. An architect will design the concept of the building. A civil engineer will design the structures (beams, columns etc). The air conditioning and ventilation (HVAC) will be designed by a mechanical engineer. An electrical engineer will do the lighting and control.
Good luck
