Can you help me find some info?

I’m trying to find out how many undergrad students are currently enrolled in Ceramics under grad programs at several colleges. Does anyone know a quick online search or link that would list the stats? Thanks for any suggestions!

Cathycc,
I don’t know of anything online but there is a book with some of the info you seek: Graduate Programs in the Visual Arts, published by College Art Association. The 2011 edition just came out last month and I just happen to have a copy right here.

They have a ton of stats for each college but they don’t break it down to how many students are in each major. However, based on their data we can make some good guesses to your questions.

Hit me with your list and I’ll look them up and post back here.
Best,
Wheaty

Try college navigator, lots of stats like that: [College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics](College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics)

Thank you so much!

Here is the list:

Alfred University
University of Hartford
SUNY @ New Paltz
RIT (D was told 5 undergrad and 3 grad by the profs a couple of weeks ago)
Syracuse

We were surprised by the small #s @ RIT so we are now curious about the others!

Thanks to jtmoney too! I think I’m set now!

Hey thanks JTmoney! I learned something new - what a cool resource. Something new to play with… there goes the rest of my day.

Cathycc, I’ll compare to the book I mentioned and if it’s different I’ll post.

Thanks Wheaty! I’m surprised @ how few students there are in this major @ some of these schools!

Oh this major is tiny. It’s very common to find just a handful of ceramics students for most of these programs. It’s weird too because you’ll find very large ceramics areas and in most cases very good instruction and tons of resources and just a few students.

Yes, I know! I think lots of students take it as an art elective, but not too many are clay freaks like my kid. She hopes to teach it @ the college level some day. I guess we will see how that works out for her…
