Can you hook up a macbook to work with a pc?

I have a really nice desktop that I do not want to part with but for portability, I was thinking that I should get a laptop and really was thinking about a new macbook. I am wondering if there is a way to hook them up wirelessly (networking maybe) or otherwise. I could get another type of laptop or I could get a new iMac and the macbook but that would be really costly.

What do you think?

If you are talking about syncing between the two computers, then there’s a good free software from microsoft called foldershare that syncs folders across different computers over the internet. It works on both macs and PCs. I think MS is changing it’s name to Windows Live Sync soon though.

what are you wanting to do exactly?

I want to be able to save things from the macbook onto the desktop. I’d prefer it to be wireless but a wire is fine too.

then foldershare is good for that. Anything you change, create, move in the synced folders on any computer in the network will automatically be reflected and downloaded on all computers that are in the “library.” Syncing can be automatic or manual and happens by encrypted transfers over the internet (so the two computers don’t even need to be on the same network). So the only thing you need is internet access on all computers.

It also has a feature where you can remotely access all files on any computer sharing the same libary but I have that disabled as it poses some security risks. I can see how it can be very helpful though.
