Hey all–
I asked the Collegeboard this, but they haven’t gotten back to me, so I’m hoping some of you guys will instead!
Basically: I’m a current HS senior and interested in self-studying for the AP Art History exam (not necessarily to pile on my AP stats; I adore art, and I adore a challenge too). If I end up with a 3 or lower on that test, will that nullify my status as National AP Scholar? Can I lose the title after I’ve earned it?
For National AP scholar, you need to have an average of at least a 4 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on at least 8 of those AP exams. So as long as your average will not fall below a 4 (if you have at least one 5, you would be fine with a 3 – as long as you have no other 3s or lower). That you get a 3 or less doesn’t necessarily mean you are no longer a national AP scholar as still have at least eight 4s/5s (again assuming your average on all AP exams does not drop below 4).
That really clears things up. Thanks so much for the speedy response!
