Can you please score my essay? (133 words)

<p>On a scale of 1-6, how would you mark this essay? I know that it’s very poorly written with a weak argument. But, I just want to have an idea about what mark I should expect to score on an essay like this. I hope it’s worthy of a 2. Thanks for reading!

Prompt: Akira Kurosawa’s film masterpiece Rashomon portrays several people who have witnessed a death. As each observer recounts the event as he or she witnessed it, we come to realize that each person’s story varies greatly from every other account. Watching the movie, we reflect that the truth of an experience and perhaps all truth is different for each person.</p>

<p>Assignment: What is your opinion of the claim that truth is not objective, but rather is determined by each individual? In an essay, support your position by discussing an example (or examples) from literature, the arts, science and technology, history, current events, or your own experience or observation. **

<p>You need to develop your argument more. You write sentences well, but if these sentences took you 25 minutes, then you need to sacrifice writing technically for writing more content. </p>

<p>I’d give the essay a 2 because you need more.
I don’t think you used up 25 minutes fully. Make sure you have at least 2 fully developed examples.</p>

<p>Thanks hotinpursuit! I know, I know that I need a lot of improvement. My problem basically is that I’m a really slow thinker- I thought about the essay for 15 minutes, wrote for 7-8 minutes and sat idle for the rest of the time. I’m become so blank when I try to write :expressionless: </p>

<p>hotinpursuit’s spot on. You need more content in you essay. .My advice comes from the “How to get a 12 essay in 10 days” thread. Think of a list of examples that could work for any SAT prompt before you even arrive at the center. This will help a lot. Also, read that thread. <p>Don’t try hard on the intro paragraph. AGREE or DISAGREE with the question (don’t even read the quote given above it), state generally what your examples are going to be, and move on. The intro paragraph should be 2-3 sentences as long as it is terse/concise. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete.</p>

<p>If you have a hard time thinking of appropriate examples, just use ANY example of ANYTHING you’ve encountered that is a PIECE OF WORK; this could be ANY movie, ANY T.V. show, ANY book, ANYTHING. You should have at least 2 body paragraphs and a short conclusion.</p>

<p>The greatest effort shouldn’t be put into thinking of the examples. It should be put into utilizing reasoning in order to justify your thesis.</p>

<p>“How to Write a 12 Essay in Just 10 Days” has a very smart approach! Though I had seen the thread before, I hadn’t really read much into it until today. AcademicHacker makes preparing the the essay seem much easier. </p>

<p>So now I’m going for short generic intros and conclusions, memorized examples, at least 2 plugged-in examples, single-sided arguments and intelligible two-pages-long rambles :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you guys!</p>
