Hi everyone. Can you guys recommend a few schools for my daughter? She’s a junior. Basically, she wants a small school, Northeast or Southeast. She wants a chemistry major. She’s got about a 3.5 with honors and one AP (Next year). She’s got good ECs…professional actress with good credits, varsity step team, drama club, honors choir, about 300 hours of community service (mostly involving drama and performance). So far, the practice SATs are in the 1800–1900 range and the ACT should be about 27. School doesn’t rank–good thing, because there’s a clump of high-achievers at the top who edge everyone else out of the top couple of deciles. Altogether a hard-working average girl. We were thinking TCNJ and Rhodes for reaches, and Monmouth (NJ) for a safety (they’ve already offered her 12K/year). What do you think? We’re hoping that the professional credits will be a strong enough “hook” for some of the reaches to take a chance on her.

If your D will be intersted in midwest schools, there are many gems among small sized LAC.
Knox has been mentioned and they have excellent theater program, scores are optional and geographic diversity will be desirable factor. Lawrence, Beloit WI have a lot to offer as well, Lawrence does not require scores.
Wooster in Ohio is excellent school to go. I have been mentioning schools my D and I visited and were very impressed.
