So for my Rice supplement, I was thinking about talking about how the Greek System has negatively impacted the relationships I have had here, and was wondering if this is territory I should not venture into.
Not a good admissions essay topic.
@itsgettingreal17 yes, I think it would be a bad main essay topic; but are you saying it shouldn’t be mentioned, even in a supplement?
Stay positive in your essays. Don’t bash your current school in any way, including Greek life.

This isn’t Greek life related, but in my Penn common app essay and supplement, I say things like “my current school doesn’t have this, but Penn does” or “my school limits this, but Penn embraces this.” I’m not hating on the school I’m currently at, but I do point out the flaws it has in comparison to Penn. Is this alright?
That is probably okay, @philpoliecon. Ripping on Greek life, don’t do it.
@philpoliecon yes, that probably is the way I should approach my essay as well. Good luck with your apps! Is Penn your first choice?
@SeinfeldFan1 Thanks, you too! And definitely, it’s the only one I’m applying to for transfer (I’m okay with staying at my current school, but Penn would be incredible).
@philpoliecon good way to look at things; I need to employ the same mindset, since I’m only really applying to reach schools.
