Can you say "no" to a school after you are off a waitlist?

<p>I’m not sure if my question is clear, but I am trying to say the following:
If you keep yourself on the wait list does that mean you will go to the school (assuming you get off the list) no matter what? Lets say you find out you are off in May and you already told a school you are attending. Does this mean that you are obligated to say no to the school you are attending and say yes to the school that wait listed you? That doesn’t seem likely… but I was just wondering.</p>
