<p>I spent some time shadowing a doctor because I was thinking about medical school. I was wondering if you can do the same with engineering.</p>
<p>Engineering schools don’t pay attention to whether you have shadowed anyone. If you just want to figure out whether you want to pursue engineering or not, shadowing does not hurt.</p>
<p>Shadowing a doctor also adds to your resume if you are applying to medical schools.</p>
<p>I wanted to shadow an engineer to decide whether I wanted to be an engineer or a doctor.</p>
<p>If that is what you wish to do to decide on a major/career, by all means.</p>
<p>We have had two kids job shadow us in our home office. We are structural engineers. I think the students enjoyed it.</p>
