I go to UCSB and currently have a 2.8 GPA. I plan to go back home to cc and I was wondering if it’s possible for me to start off again with a 0.00 GPA. Do you suggest that I start off clean or should I transfer over my units/credits?
When you go to the CC, your GPA will not transfer; you will be starting with a 0 GPA. Classes in which you have earned at least a C may transfer for credit purposes, but not for GPA purposes. Now, if you then transfer after the CC to another 4-year school, the transfer institution will do whatever it wants to calculate your GPA, including re-factoring in your UCSB grades. However, a significant upward trend in the GPA at the CC will help to make up for a slow start and the 4-year school may not consider your UCSB grades heavily.
