I’ve heard that UCLA has been kind of random with acceptances. Like, this one person got into Harvard but got rejected at UCLA.

jazrie481, how do they know about harvard already?

yeah, that’s what they’re saying in my school too: that UCLA was very, very random about whom they accepted.

however, all the ELC people who applied there got in. (like 10 people or something?)

What are the top three UCs?
SD, LA, and B?

Can you still get into an Ivy if you got rejected by ucla AND berkeley?

Not an ivy, but D1 is at Emory - rejected from UCLA and Berkeley.

bluebayou:

I’m an in-state applicant from Southern California. Yes, I was ELC and my school does not rank. However, out of a senior class of about 850 kids, I was in the top 2%.

I got rejected at UCLA but I just got into Northwestern…Yeah, it’s not an ivy but I don’t think one rejection signifies rejection elsewhere.

Oh wow, I don’t think I’ve checked back in this thread in a while now (I’m the thread-starter). Thank you guys for the encouragement! UCLA was definitely a shocker for me, and this whole college process was really a, for the lack of a better term, rollercoaster ride! My parents think that it has been a good experience for me to taste setbacks and learn how to calm myself and deal with what’s given to me. Now that this is all over, I think they are right, and whatever happened only makes me all the more appreciative of the school I will be going to.

Sorry if I’m not suppose to bring back an old thread or something like that, I just browse through my old stuff and was surprise so many replied to this thread. At first I thought many would think this a stupid thread/question but I’m glad that so many of you guys took the time to analyze data and encourage each other. :)

I was waitlisted my at dream/top school, and I got in! So don’t lose hope class of 2014 and all of you younglings here-after. (oh yeah, I probably have some grammar mistakes)

Looks like it was Stanford. Way to go!

Long ago, one of my law school classmates was rejected by UCLA, but accepted by Harvard Law School (with insufficient financial aid for him to choose it over Berkeley).

Congratulations, Ahbao :)

I’m pretty darn sure that I remember a poster on here saying how a friend got rejected from UCLA but got into Yale and another Ivy. UCLA doesn’t have time (and doesn’t have to because they’re supposed to cater to Cali kids) to look at your entire application. Many times a GPA and an SAT score (like people have been saying) is the main thing they look at. Ivies can and will accept students who have a low GPA but make up for it in different ways.
