How is Clemson a safety? A safety must be known to be affordable.
Do you know how much your parents will pay? Will they pay the net cost of Clemson? You might get some merit, but Clemson has a high OOS cost.

Check out public colleges in your home state.
Be sure to run the online net price calculators, and discuss the estimated price with your family, to be sure they’re financial as well as admission safeties. A safety is a university which you have assured acceptance, you can afford and which you would be happy attending. With your stats you would be assured acceptance at all but maybe the top 100 schools (I’m really just throwing out a number). The other two questions we simply don’t have the information to help. What can your parents afford to contribute? What are you planning to study? What schools would you be content to attend?
On a side note. Case Western Reserve is very similar to Carnegie Mellon in size, atmosphere and in focus and tends to offer better academic scholarships. It would be considered a strong match for you.
case western is an awesome school. if you need a crazy party school with big time football and basketball…CWRU is not for you. if you want to be around really smart people in the STEMs (and other subjects too) than CWRU is an excellent option!
^Well, given the OP really wants to go to CMU, my guess is he/she isn’t looking for a crazy party school and smart STEM students would be fine and CWRU would be fine.

That is possibly true, and it may be for the OP’s family. We don’t know yet what his family has agreed to pay.
That said, Clemson has a very high OOS tuition cost, $33k (total COA approx $50k per year.). I hope that when the OP looked at the posted costs, he noticed that they are listed as “per semester” and not per year. That sort of thing has tripped up a number of folks over the past few years.
If he gets the top award of $15k, then his family will still have $35k per year to pay. That may be super…or not.
His title is asking for safeties when he’s already been accepted to Clemson. For that reason, I’m guessing that he needs less expensive alternatives…otherwise WHY the need for this thread??? @carolinamom2boys

I didn’t get into Clemson, I was just considering applying as a safety, by the way. Didn’t really think about their finaid until right after I posted this thread.
@Applecake You might like the Rochester Institute of Technology, they have good Game design and computer science programs. I have a nephew who is a senior majoring in game design and he loves the program and the school. RIT met all of his financial need and he has had some paid internships, too.
I am not sure what your career aspirations are, but there are also many good LACS which have good computer science programs, although they may not be the foremost option considered by a CS major.
My oldest D was a CS major at the University of Richmond in VA (double major with biochemistry). They also have Film Studies as both a major and minor, which could perhaps work for you if coupled with CS. UR is one of the rare schools which is need blind and meets 100% of demonstrated need for accepted (need aware for internationals) students.
It is a wonderful campus and school with challenging academics, small classes, great advising and professors, and career services. They have excellent study abroad programs with a high participation rate. They also offer every student a $4000 stipend to fund a research or internship experience.
Another very nice 100% needs met LAC with strong academics, with CS and Film Studies, is Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, a cute small city, the F and M campus is beautiful.
There are other good LACs like these which might be worth a look which may meet your financial and academic needs. UR and F and M are CSS Profile schools, so be sure to run the NPCs to make sure they would be affordable for your family.
Even if you are not 100% sure about LACs for CS, it might be a good idea to add several to your list as a backup plan if your more techy schools don’t work out.
