Can you use command c and v to copy/paste on the essays?

Hello all,

I was just curious what exactly you can do with the word processing program on the essays. I know it has buttons for copy and paste, but that seems really cumbersome; can you use key commands? Anything else we should know? Thanks!

Nope, I took it today and it just had copy and paste buttons. Also, while I was too busy writing my damn essays to really be sure, I don’t think it has very big or inclusive undo/redo memory. Don’t depend on those functions. Also, there’s no way to italicize or underline, which is really silly…

Wow; that really sucks. This seems like a really bad idea that will needlessly slow test takers down; how do they think typing on the equivalent of a late 80’s word processor is an accurate representation of graduate work?

I agree. But more importantly, why do they think having you write something in 30 minutes is a good reflection of how well you can write? Even though I paced myself reasonably well, I had to leave in awkward sentences and rough transitions just because there was not enough time to smooth things out. They’re testing to see who can write essays the fastest, which is absolutely no reflection of anything.

I agree completely; this is not reflective of how one would work on a thesis or publication at all. Also, I believe there should be spell check; I know that may be blasphemy, but honestly who doesn’t use spell check in a modern setting. Furthermore people who just use it blindly would write poor papers, you still need to have a good knowledge of words to use spell check correctly.
