can your remaining Financial money , pell grant be used as an eligibility for Medi-cal Insurance?

I dont know if this count as a question, but i turned 26 last November, and i need medi-cal insurance, i live in CALIfornia, and i was wonder if i can claim my remaining financial aid money as low income for Medi-cal? i have no income of my own, and no job? i do live at home with family though.

i would like to know if its possible with financial aid.

Doesn’t your college have health insurance? Can you get it through them?

There is a health care thread in the Parents Cafe. Most of the posters are from CA. You might want to post your question there…

Or PM a poster named Calmom.

Is it income? Do you have to pay taxes on the Pell grant overage? If it isn’t income, it is hard to call it income for medicaid perposes, but you have to ask THAT program what counts as income. As we all know, just because the IRS calls it income doesn’t mean it is FAFSA income.

i guess its untaxed. i will contact, calmon then. is it just calmon with no lettering behind the name, how often does she visit the site>?

If this aid is NOT considered income, I can’t imagine how you could list it as such on the health care application.

It’s just calmom.

well i mentioned to the medical rep?
